About Tip Calculator

The Tip Calculator helps you determine how much to tip at restaurants, bars, or for other services based on your bill amount and preferred tip percentage. It also allows you to split the bill among multiple people for group dining.

How to Use This Calculator

Basic Tip

To calculate a simple tip:

Enter your bill amount
Select a tip percentage or enter a custom percentage
Choose whether to round the tip amount
Click "Calculate Tip" to see the tip amount and total bill

Bill Splitting

To split a bill with tip among multiple people:

Enter your bill amount
Select a tip percentage
Enter the number of people sharing the bill
Choose between equal split or custom percentages
For custom split, assign percentages to each person (must total 100%)
Click "Calculate Split" to see how much each person pays

Tip Calculation Formula

Tip Amount = Bill Amount × (Tip Percentage ÷ 100)

Total Bill = Bill Amount + Tip Amount

Amount Per Person (equal split) = Total Bill ÷ Number of People

Tipping Guide

Restaurants: 15-20% of the pre-tax bill amount is standard in the US.
Bartenders: $1-2 per drink or 15-20% of the total tab.
Food delivery: 10-15% of the bill, with a minimum of $2-5.
Rideshare/Taxi: 15-20% of the fare.
Hotel housekeeping: $2-5 per night, left daily.
Hairstylists/barbers: 15-20% of the service cost.
